Eriksen reveals ´big difference´ in Man Utd dressing room as Ten Hag revival gathers pace

Christian Eriksen senses a big difference in the atmosphere surrounding Manchester United after they continued an impressive revival by beating Arsenal.

United have won four successive league games for the first time since April 2021 after dealing the Gunners their first defeat of the campaign on Sunday. A Marcus Rashford double and a debut goal from Antony handed the Red Devils a 3-1 victory.

As well as teeing up Rashford s second goal, Eriksen topped United s charts for chances created (three), touches (56) and passes in the final third (16) during a masterful midfield showing.

United s fine recent form is a far cry from their start to the campaign, when they suffered humiliating back-to-back defeats to Brighton and Hove Albion and Brentford – they are jus…

Sevilla 1-0 West Ham: Munir strike enough to seal first-leg advantage for LaLiga side

Sevilla will take a slim advantage into their Europa League last-16 second leg against West Ham after winning 1-0 at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.

A superb second-half strike from Munir El Haddadi was enough to give the LaLiga side the victory, though the visiting Hammers also had their chances.

Munir only came into the side after Ivan Rakitic picked up an injury in the warm-up, and the Moroccan was at the centre of most of his team s best moments.

West Ham manager David Moyes may well be satisfied with his team s performance and coming away from Spain with just a one-goal deficit, as they look to get back into the tie at the London Stadium next Thursday.

Sevilla threatened early with two headers in the first four minutes, first from Youssef En-Nesyr…

Bayern to enter Olmo race

Bayern Munich have added themselves to the ever-growing list of clubs interested in Dani Olmo of Dinamo Zagreb, according to Bild.

The Bundesliga champions have been pursuing young wingers to add to the likes of Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman, following the departures of Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben. They have reportedly been pursuing deals for more established players of that ilk in Manchester City s Leroy Sane and Barcelona s Ousmane Dembele, but their efforts have so far been unsuccessful with Dembele having no intention of leaving Camp Nou and City refusing to consider selling Sane.

They have therefore turned their attention to Olmo as an alternative target. The 21-year-old who joined Dinamo in a rather surprising move from Barcelona s youth setup in 2014, has al…

Injury-hit Italy lose Immobile for England clash

Ciro Immobile joined Italy s injury list ahead of Friday s Nations League encounter with England.

The Lazio striker has suffered a muscle injury and was not included in the Azzurri s squad list for the game at San Siro.

Midfielder Sandro Tonali left the European champions training camp on the day of the match as he has not recovered from an injury.

Coach Roberto Mancini will also be without the likes of Marco Verratti, Matteo Politano, Lorenzo Pellegrini and Davide Calabria.

Italy will remain in contention for the Nations League Finals if they come out on top in a repeat of last year s Euro 2020 final.

England, bottom of Group 3, will be relegated from League A if they are beaten in Milan.

I like him very much – Sarri talks up Pogba

Maurizio Sarri has hinted he would like Paul Pogba to leave Manchester United and join Juventus.

Pogba s agent Mino Raiola has confirmed the midfielder wants to leave Old Trafford, three years after he returned for a second spell.

The France midfielder was nevertheless named in United s starting line-up for Saturday s International Champions Cup clash with Inter.

But Juve s new head coach Sarri, speaking ahead of their ICC game against Tottenham, opened the door to a potential transfer.

I like him very much, but he s a Manchester United player, Sarri told a news conference.

I m not the technical director [Fabio Paratici] so I don t know the situation.

Courtois agent advises Chelsea to accept Real Madrid offer

Chelsea risk losing Thibaut Courtois for free if they do not grant his wish and accept Real Madrid s reasonable offer, the goalkeeper s agent has warned.

Courtois, 26, has one year remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge but appears determined to leave before the transfer window closes.

The Belgian s agent, Christophe Henrotay, has confirmed his client wants to join the European champions in order to be closer to his children, who live in Madrid.

Courtois previously spent three years at Atletico Madrid and now is ready to link up with their city rivals.

I have been reading everywhere that Chelsea are saying it is up to Thibaut, but he has made it clear to the club that the best option for him is to move to Madrid, Henrotay told The Sun.

Barcelona 1-4 Paris Saint-Germain: Mbappe hat-trick leaves Barca requiring another ´Remontada´

Kylian Mbappe scored a remarkable hat-trick as Paris Saint-Germain came from behind to batter Barcelona 4-1 away from home in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

The Parisians were back at Camp Nou for the first time since their humiliating Champions League collapse in 2017 when they were thumped 6-1 after winning the first leg 4-0, and they got a semblance of revenge with an emphatic victory.

Lionel Messi reached 20 goals for a 13th successive season when putting Barca ahead just before the half-hour mark with a penalty, but PSG were far more of a threat in attack and fully deserved the equaliser that Mbappe netted with aplomb.

Mbappe doubled his personal tally in the second half and the similarly lively Moise Kean got PSG s third soon afte…

It´s not for me to decide my legacy, says outgoing USA coach Ellis

Jill Ellis says it is for other people to determine what her legacy is after she bowed out as head coach of the United States women s team.

The 53-year-old, who took over the reins in 2014, leaves after guiding the national team to successive World Cup triumphs in 2015 and 2019.

Her final match, a friendly with South Korea in Chicago, ended in a 1-1 draw.

Ellis, who was recently named women s coach of the year at the Best FIFA Football Awards 2019, would not be drawn on how her time in charge will be remembered, instead choosing to highlight the lasting relationships she has built.

Asked what her legacy would be, she told reporters: I ve been asked that question before and I kind of feel that s someone else s narrative to write. It s not about me writing …

We wish a lot of success and championships to our new player, said Fener after sealing the deal on Wednesday.

Arsenal 0 Sporting CP 0: Welbeck injury sours Europa League stalemate

Arsenal booked their place in the Europa League knockout stages after a 0-0 draw with 10-man Sporting CP that was marred by an injury to Danny Welbeck.

The point – combined with Vorskla losing 1-0 to Qarabag – was enough to ensure a top-two place for the Gunners in Group E, but the performance left much to be desired.

A lack of fire power meant the few openings the Gunners were able to create went begging, while Sporting who had Jeremy Mathieu sent off late on  offered even less in the final third.

With Arsenal progressing despite a disappointing display, Welbeck s injury will be the main concern for Unai Emery and Gareth Southgate, who named the 27-year-old in his England squad earlier on Thursday.

After a lengthy delay, it s going to be a sad end t…
